Former Mitchell hog plant converting to turkey plant

A defunct hog processing plant in Mitchell is getting rebooted.

Owner Sofina Foods has announced the former Great Lakes Specialty Meats facility will be converted to a turkey processing plant.

Reports say there’s no set start date on when the transformation will begin.

It is expected to be operational by the end of the year.
