Stratford’s finance subcommittee is backing $1.00 an hour parking downtown.
A report in The Beacon Herald says they approved the motion at a meeting Tuesday.
Right now parking downtown is 40 cents an hour.
City staff had recommended a rate of 75 cents an hour.
Council says the increase is needed so that Stratford’s parking reserve fund can be topped up.
That fund is used to pay for parking improvements.
