Matilda Street residents lose OMB appeal

Matilda Street residents will have to pay up after all.

The Ontario Municipal Board ruled against them earlier this month.

The board says the City of Stratford can move forward with rebuilding the road and installing a storm sewer.

Part of the costs of that project will be shouldered by residents of the street as the city has deemed it a “local improvement”

They had argued that they shouldn’t have to pay because most of the traffic on the street isn’t local and comes from things like the SERC site.
