Human powered commuting encouraged on Car-Free Fridays

Drivers in Stratford are being encouraged to leave their cars at home.

Starting this week there will be five Car-Free Fridays downtown.  The idea comes from the Stratford City Centre Business Improvement Area.

The BIA will be giving out free coffee and orange juice to human powered commuters those mornings.  This Friday the refreshments will be available at Ontario and Downie.

The BIA believes Car-Free Fridays will help beautify the downtown core and free up parking spaces for those that have to drive.

Here is a list of the planned Car-Free Fridays and where the refreshments will be available those mornings from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m:

-Friday, July 31 | Memorial Gardens, Ontario St & Downie St
-Friday, August 14 | St. Patrick St & Downie St
-Friday, August 28 | Ontario St & St. Andrew St
-Friday, September 11 | Erie St & St. Andrew St
-Friday, September 25 | Brunswick St & Waterloo St
