The Perth County OPP is going to be out in force this long weekend. It’s part of a province-wide traffic initiative.
A big part of that initiative will be a “Move Over” education and enforcement campaign. Ontario’s Move Over law came into effect 12 years ago.
It requires drivers to slow down and drive carefully when coming up on a parked emergency vehicle that has its lights on. You also have to move over to the next lane on a multi-lane road.
Officers will also be on the lookout for other bad habits, like aggressive or distracted driving.
