Some Stratford Police officers were at the Festival Marketplace Mall checking parked cars on Wednesday.
They found 12 unlocked vehicles. Of those 12 three had purses and one had Christmas presents in plain view.
Officers checked 100 vehicles in total.
Inspector Sam Theocharis is reminding residents to keep their cars locked and make sure their valuables are out of sight. Doing so can help prevent crime by taking the opportunity away from would-be thieves.
