Natural gas expansion to Milverton put on hold

It doesn’t look like natural gas will be coming to Milverton any time soon.

The Ontario Energy Board has put a hold on Union Gas’s application to extend the service to the village. That application also included four other communities around the province.

The OEB says with the current regulations the cost of expanding natural gas to Milverton and those other communities is not workable.

Union Gas has told Perth East officials that his hold could delay the application by roughly one year. The township says Milverton could lose $1.3 million a year in energy savings for every year they lack natural gas.
