Dyer, Albert

In his 80th year, with his loving wife and daughters by his side, Albert (Bert) William Dyer, went
to be with God, our Heavenly Father, on Saturday, May 21 at Greenwood Court. Bert was born
in Matheson, Ontario on the 18th of June, 1936 to Herbert and Minnie (Harding). He was
married to Jeannette (Young) for 57 years. He was a proud father of four daughters and their
families: Virginia “Ginny” and Jim Stoakley with their children Branden Grube (partner Taylor),
Brittany Grube (partner Josh) and daughter Rylen, Haillie Grube, Cheyanne Grube, Tim
Stoakley and daughter Lauryn, Tom Stoakley (Elizabeth) and daughter Janneke; Elizabeth
“Beth” and Ted Lewis with their son Austin; Heather Noble with her children Paige and Harrison;
Dawn and Brian Dingman with their daughters Mackenzie and Jessica. Pa’s grandchildren and
great grandchildren brought him a great amount of joy. He will be missed by the “Young” family.
Albert is survived by his brother Floyd (Ruth) Dyer of Matheson as well as many nieces and
nephews. Predeceased by his parents, as well as his siblings Enid, Norine, Charles, and
nephew George. Bert moved to Stratford in his 18th year to follow his figure skating career. He
was an active member of the Stratford Figure Skating Club for over 30 years, including
president of the club for many years. He was also a dedicated figure skating judge for many
years. His dedication to the sport of figure skating earned him a nomination for Sportsperson of
the year in 1990. He worked as a Produce Manager for Dominion Stores for over 30 years. Bert
had been a resident at Greenwood Court for over 15 years where he received exceptional care.
He was an animal lover and enjoyed taking his family on annual camping trips to Northern
Ontario. In keeping with Bert’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at W.G.
Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford on Thursday, May 26 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The
Memorial Service will be held at W.G. Young Funeral Home, on Friday, May 27 at 11:00 a.m. In
lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s
