Lester Vincent Shelley, age 60, of St. Thomas passed away unexpectedly at his home, on Saturday, May 21, 2016. He was the son of the late Leslie George Shelley and the former Dorothy Mae Pelton. Lester was the proud father of Jennifer Brink (Shelley) and husband Henry and Leslie – Anne Shelley. He was a nurturing grandfather of Noël Mae and Jordan Leslie Brink. He was a good friend to Jo-Anne Shelley. He was a 38 year member of Doric Corinthian Masonic Lodge #569 A.F. & A.M., Lakeside. Lester was a highway man who enjoyed being behind the wheel of his rig. He had an appreciation for a good NASCAR race, as long as Dale Earnhardt Sr. was on the poll, or got the checkered flag. Following Sr.’s death in February 2001 in Daytona, Lester held strong support for the Hendrick Motorsports team and always cheered for the “Intimidator’s” son, Dale Jr. He was a “Chevy Man” and he was always one to offer words of encouragement. Besides his parents, Lester was predeceased by his sister Sylvia Dorothy Powers (Shelley). Friends and relatives may call at the James A. Rutherford Funeral Home, 156 Albert Street, Stratford, on Monday, May 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Masonic Lodge Service will be held Monday evening at 6:30. A second visitation will be held Tuesday, May 31, from 11a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00p.m. Interment will follow in Harrington Presbyterian Cemetery.
