William Benjamin May, in his 99th year, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2016, after a short stay at Hillside Manor. He was born in Stockton-on-Tees, England, the son of Alice and William Aylott and immigrated to Canada in 1957. Bill was a former employee of Griffith and also Switzers as a tool and dye maker. He was predeceased by his wife of 73 and a half years, Grace May, whom he married on September 17, 1939. He was also predeceased by several brothers, sisters, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews who resided in England. Bill was also predeceased by two great grandchildren: Dustin Patrick and Autumn Ann Lennon. He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Lea and her husband David Hunt. Bill is survived by his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren: David and Anne Marie Hunt and their children; Emily, Brian and Chaniqua and their grandchild, Jase, Kevin Hunt and his children; Candice and David Harbin and their daughter, Kaylea, Jessica and Phil Delange, Kelsey Hunt and Kimberlea Lennon and her children; Summer and Brooke. Bill is also survived by a sister, Lil Challis, and many nieces and nephews and their families, all of whom live in England, and by his extended family, Sherry, Sam and Michael Palmer. Bill was a dedicated member of the Masons for more than forty years. He was three times Past Master of the Stratford Lodge, #332 and Past Officer of the Grand Lodge. A private family service will be held in Avondale Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Stratford Perth Rotary Club Hospice Project through the W.G.
