Stratford Festival opens with “Macbeth” tonight

It’s opening night for the Stratford Festival.

The 64th season gets underway tonight with a performance of Macbeth. Ann Swerdfager with the Festival says there’s a buzz in the air:

There will be plenty of pageantry during the opening.

The Stratford Police Pipes and Drums band and the Stratford Cadet Colour Guard will be performing at 6:30pm. The red carpet arrivals are set to begin at 6:45pm with Macbeth getting underway at 7:30pm.

Swerdfager says the show is top notch:

Five other shows open this week including A Chorus Line and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. You can find a complete schedule of performances and events at the Stratford Festival’s website.
