Local mayors sit down with deputy premier

Perth County’s mayors took the opportunity to have a chat with Deb Matthews.

The deputy premier was in the area yesterday. She had a roundtable discussion in St. Marys with host Al Strathdee, Stratford Mayor Dan Mathieson and others.

Strathdee says they discussed issues facing our area like the skilled labour shortage, affordable housing, and the lack of public transportation options like rail.

He says it seems like Matthews was receptive to what the mayors had to say:

Strathdee adds it’s important for local leadership to work together to get the attention of the provincial government:

Matthews was also in Stratford yesterday to announce $8.2 million in extra funding for the South West Local Health Integration Network for in-home care.
