OPP stepping up patrols for holiday weekend

The Perth County OPP says officers will be out in force this long weekend. They’ll be focusing on the “Move Over” law and the Big Four of bad driving.

The “Move Over” law requires drivers to slow down while passing emergency vehicles on the shoulders of the roads. In a multi-lane highway you have to move to the left lane if it’s safe to do so.

The Big Four are distracted and impaired driving, speeding, and not wearing a seat belt.  Those are the four biggest causes of fatal crashes on Ontario roads.

The OPP says they’ll also be setting up a number of R.I.D.E. checkpoints around the county over the weekend.
