Rothernel, Eileen

D. Eileen Rothernel (nee Doone), at the tender age of 94 and two days after her 73rd anniversary of her marriage to William (Bill) Rothernel, Eileen went to join her loved ones in heaven. Born in Black’s Harbour, N.B. in 1922, Eileen is predeceased by her much loved husband Bill, her father the Hon. Senator J.J. Hayes Doone, her mother Maud Muriel; her sisters Shirley Doone and Lorna MacGillivray, her brothers George, Allen and Hayes Doone; her brothers-in-law Len Woodcock, James MacGillivray and James Ready; her sister-in-law Mildred Doone (Mid) her grandson Andy and her great grandson Max, and her dear friend George Harrison. Eileen leaves behind her four sons, Bill (Susan) and their children Ryan, Brigette and Jeff. Hayes (Judy) and their children Jason, Jimmy, Christopher, B.J., Will and Joey. Jon (Cathy) and their children John Henry, Leah, Jordyn and Terin. Lindsay (Gwen) and their children Justin, Skylar and Nicolas and her daughter Peggy Davidson( Ted); her sisters Betty Ready, Jean (Ken) Quill, Sheila (Richard) Leblanc and Doonie Woodcock; 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. During her working career, Eileen was a secretary at Milverton High School, the Stratford Secondary High School and Canadian Fabricated. She was a founding member of Art in the Park Association of Stratford, a founding member and 1st President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 565 in Milverton, a member of the IODE and a member of the Catholic Women’s League since 1945. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nursing staff of the CCAC for their caring and compassion they showed to our mother and members of the family. They all deserve wings. Family and friends may call at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday August 26, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. ( CWL prayers will be held at 1:45 p.m.) The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday August 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic church, 96 Huron Street, Stratford. Interment to follow in Avondale Cemetery. Eileen was a generous donor to many charities and in her honour, family members would ask that in lieu of donations or flowers you share a special treat with someone you love.
