John Elbert Boersen, age 83, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on December 4, 2016. John was born in Stoutenburg, Holland, January 8, 1933, son of the late Ysbrand and Adriana Boersen. Beloved husband for 57 years of Judith (Larter). Loving brother of Annie Bokkers (Peter), Theo, Bert (Elizabeth), Gerbrant (Renelda), Henk (Emma), Joan Oud, Johan (Viola), Aleida Vlasman (Joe). Also survived by sisters-in-law Betty Lou Larter, Ann Boersen, a brother-in-law Edward Larter (Marlene) and many nieces, nephews and their families. John was predeceased by a brother Antonius, sisters Dora Olsthoorn (Adrian), Betty Gras (Andre), sisters-in-law Martina Boersen, Laura Hall (Allan), Sarah Harrison (George), brothers-in-law Peter Oud and Stephen Larter, his father-in-law and mother-in-law George and Lillian (Betty) (Parker) Larter. On August 29, 1959, John and Judy were married in Guelph. They came to Stratford to the farm in 1964 where they farmed until retiring in 2000. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Stratford. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 50 Well Street, Stratford on Friday December 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Avondale Cemetery.
