City holding vigil for Quebec City shooting victims

The City of Stratford and communities across Canada are mourning the victims of the Quebec City mosque shooting.    The Canadian flag at Stratford City Hall has been lowered to half- mast in a gesture of solemn respect.

Mayor Dan Mathieson will be meeting with local faith leaders, and in a short statement indicated his profound sense of loss as a local citizen and as a Canadian.   “It is at times like these that we must pull together and demonstrate both our caring and our resilience as a community and a country”, said Mayor Mathieson.

A vigil is planned for 7:30pm tonight outside of Stratford City Hall for fifteen minutes to demonstrate compassion and support for the families of those killed in Quebec City and to also show support for our Muslim friends and neighbors in Stratford.   Participants are asked to bring “a source of light.”
