Perth County Council approves sending more stroke victims to Stratford

Perth County Council has made a change to the way acute stroke patients in the area are handled.

Those that have been having symptoms for more than three hours will now be sent directly to Stratford General Hospital instead of other area hospitals. Stratford General is a designated stroke centre.

Previously patients only bypassed their local hospitals if their stroke symptoms had been happening for less than three hours. A report in the Beacon Herald says council made the decision at last Thursday’s meeting.
