Mayor Dan Mathieson is going to bat for Stratford’s senior citizens.
He’s penned a letter to the Southwest LHIN’s CEO Michael Barrett in response to Revera’s decision to close Hillside Manor. The long-term care home near Mitchell has 90 beds, 38 of which are headed to London.
In his letter Mayor Mathieson says Hillside Manor is a vital facility and its closure, combined with the closure of People Care Stratford, is a devastating loss to our community. He says Stratford has a larger than average number of senior citizens and these closures make it difficult for people to visit their loved ones.
Mayor Mathieson is calling for a meeting with Barrett to discuss the matter and to work on a solution that will ensure the well-being of Stratford’s senior citizens.
