Conestogo Lake May Contain Blue-Green Algae

The Grand River Conservation Authority says conditions are ideal for the growth of blue-green algae on Conestogo Lake.

The Ministry of Environment says anyone on the lake should avoid going in, eating any fish out of it, or touching any of the algae.

The algae is known to contain a type of toxin which can make both humans and animals sick.

The conservation authority says it will continue to monitor the reservoir.
