Health Unit Talking Public Health Impact as Changes Come Down from Province

Changes to public health coming down from the province and how they impact Stratford on a local level are being shared by the Perth District Health Unit.

Council heard from Doctor Miriam Klassen in last night’s meeting.

She says the province may shed its 36 health units and condense them down to 14, similar to the LHIN borders.

Klassen says Public Health comes down to the basics, with anything as simple as fastening your seat belt to making sure you and members of your family are keeping up with vaccinations.

She stressed how important not working alone is, as the health unit often works with school boards along with community groups and organizations in education and prevention.

New standards for core public health have also been introduced this year.
