Eckmier, Carman

Carman Eckmier age 90, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at his residence Cedarcroft Place on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Born in Stratford son of the late Wilfred and Pearl (Schenk) Eckmier. Beloved husband of the late Ethel Irene (Gilbert) Eckmier who predeceased him on November 9, 2012. Dear father of Paul (Debbie) Eckmier of Kitchener. Survived by his grandchildren David (Kara) Eckmier of Waterloo, Jonathon (Deb) Eckmier of Breslau and Timothy Eckmier of Banff, Alberta along with great- grandchildren Leah, Lyla, Dawson and Hudson. Carman will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Ellen Fangrad (David) of Stratford and Grace Uloth (Dieter) of Stratford, along with the entire Gilbert family. Besides his parents and wife, Carman was predeceased by several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Carman served his country as Leading Air Craftsman RCAF in WW2 and also worked for the CNR in Stratford and Toronto, and later became store manager for Sherwin-Williams Paints in Stratford. Prior to his retirement Carman worked for Reliance Electric (Stratford) as shipper and receiver. He was a member of Elgin Missionary Church and Tavistock Missionary Church where he served his Lord as Sunday School Superintendent as well as on Church Board Committees. Carman also served formerly as President of the Stratford District Credit Union. Carman was a very proud supporter of the Toronto Blue Jays. Friends and family may call at the W. G.
