Carol Hunter

Peacefully at home on September 1, 2017. Carol grew up with 2 brothers and two sisters. Her father passed away when she was 5, leaving her mother to raise all 5 children by herself, from this Carol developed a strong work ethic and an understanding of responsibility.

She married Doug Hunter March 17, 1962. They raised three children Mark, married to Denise Whitehead, Steven married to Debra and Lynda married to Ron McKenzie. She was a woman of many talents, gardening, piano playing, landscape painting, cooking and baking. Carol loved making desserts. Carol and Doug started Hunter Steele in 1976. Carol looked after the bookkeeping. The business was very special to her, but the most important thing in her life was her family. Seeing them all happily married and with children of their own was a great joy to her. The grandchildren are Adam, Andrew and Matthew Hunter, Emma McKenzie, Laura and Sarah Hunter.

She enjoyed her many friends. With them she played bridge, golf, skiing and travel. She also enjoyed the slot machines until she could no longer find a five cent machine. Many times she took her widowed mother and widowed aunt on motor trips for 4 or 5 days duration to eastern Ontario and the USA. After each trip they all enjoyed telling their stories of their adventures, and always laughing at their misadventures.

Unfortunately she developed Lewy bodies, this diminishing the opportunity to participate in the activities she enjoyed, but she always kept her endearing smile and her sense of humour. As with all people who are a joy to be around, she will be sadly missed. Visitation at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Tuesday, September 5, from 6-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment at Avondale Cemetery followed by a reception at the funeral home.
