Local police will be stepping up patrols around crossing guards as students are going to and from school.
The Perth County OPP says every year there are incidents of drivers disobeying crossing in guards, which could potentially end in someone being hurt or worse.
Police say if anyone in a vehicle, even a bicycle, doesn’t yield to crossing guards could face harsh fines and demerit points.
The OPP is reminding drivers that fines and penalties are doubled in school and community safety zones.
