Huron County’s council has voted in favour of banning smoking on any county owned property.
The recommendation came from the local health unit, working within the confines of the Smoke-Free Ontario Act.
Exceptions will be in place for any residents in long-term care homes or social housing under pre-existing rules.
The new restrictions don’t affect e-cigarettes as council didn’t have enough information on their use to include it in the new bylaw.
The recommendation is expected to get final approval in next month’s council meeting.
