Stratford Police Lay Extortion Charges After 18 Month Investigation

Stratford Police have charged a 22-year-old man with extortion of over a dozen women for sexual purposes.

Acting Deputy Chief of Police Sam Theocharis says the 18-month investigation revealed the suspect would use fake social media accounts to convince women to send nude photos in exchange for money.

Theocharis says the photos were then used to extort the women under threat of showing them on other social media sites to their friends and family.

Stratford Police’s Criminal Investigations Division would like to hear from anyone who may have been a victim of this extortion.

Josh Alexander of Stratford faces 35 charges in total including 16 counts of extortion.
