Goderich town council has given the green light for Goderich Hydro to merge with Erie-Thames Powerlines.
Goderich Hydro says getting power from a much larger grid will improve reliability without affecting rates as there’s a freeze in place for the next five years.
It means both utility providers will have better access to improve infrastructure and keep up with developments in technology to improve both producers.
It’s up to the Ontario Energy Board to review the deal but council says the merger could be completed by the summer of 2018.
