Ronald Cecil Weir, age 71, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Stratford General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, band mates and friends. Born in Stratford, son of the late George and Hilda (Diehl) Weir. Survived by his son, Nathan McKay and Nathan’s mother Darlene McKay.
Ron was well known in the music industry in Stratford and area, playing in bands for many, many years. Ron will be remembered by his music family and his sisters-in-law Jeanie Weir and Jean Weir and his many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by all his siblings; William Weir (1999), Betty Bell (2000) and Bob Weir (2003).
Family and friends are invited to call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Bethel Pentecostal Church (Stratford), 2988 Highway 7 & 8 East, Stratford (next to Home Hardware) on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Avondale Cemetery. Reception to follow the burial at the Queen’s Inn (Boars Head) Pub, 161 Ontario Street, Stratford. In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Society of Canada, or to a trust fund for underprivileged children to take music lessons.
