Stratford Looking into More Permanent Way to Deal with Homelessness

The City of Stratford is exploring a long-term solution to dealing with homelessness.

Stratford’s CAO Rob Horne says temporary accommodations don’t solve the problem.

He says the city has partners in the hospitality industry to help put people in need up, as the city doesn’t have a shelter for those over the age of 24 who are not victims of abuse.

City council has been exploring the need to bring in affordable housing, a sustainable solution to getting people back on their feet.

The Britannia Street affordable housing project has been moving forward, with council and staff nearing the final planning stages.
