Project Lifesaver Launched in Huron County

A new program has launched today as part of a partnership between the OPP and Huron County Paramedic Services.

Project Lifesaver aims to help those affected by disabilities, Autism, Down Syndrome and seniors with Alzheimer’s.

You can register to wear a transmitter which will alert first responders in the case of an emergency or if they are reported missing.

The OPP says the effective range of the transmitter is about two kilometres on the ground but as far as seven by air, making it easier for police to conduct a search.

The program and others like it are used in many communities across the country.
