Tavistock Man Pleads Guilty in Livestock Cruelty Case

A 27-year-old Tavistock man has pled guilty to a number of charges stemming from animal cruelty in the deaths of more than 1,200 pigs.

The OSPCA says officers were called to a farm in Langton after receiving a number of reports of the mistreatment of livestock last year.

The organization estimates more than 1,000 pigs were dead when they arrived at the facility, with another 250 needing to be euthanized.

The OSPCA says the barn where the livestock was kept had been flooded and left in complete darkness.

Ben Stein pled guilty to four counts of animal cruelty in a Simcoe Court yesterday.
