Perth-Wellington MPP agrees with party removing Michael Harris from caucus over sexual misconduct accusations

The decision by the Ontario PC’s to boot Michael Harris from the party following accusations of sexual misconduct is being welcomed by Randy Pettapiece.

In an email to the My Stratford Now Newsroom, the MPP for Perth Wellington says he was disappointed when he heard the news about the accusations against Harris, the MPP for Kitchener-Conestoga, that include a written complaint from a former intern dating back to 2013 and a series of text messages ”of a sexual nature.”

Pettapiece says that Ontario PC Leader Doug Ford has stated that the party has a zero tolerance policy with regard to inappropriate workplace behaviour and that it has no place in the party.

In the email, Pettapiece goes on to say he supports the policy and given the circumstances he agrees with the decision to remove Harris from caucus.

Harris has issued an “unequivocal apology” for the text messages.
