Stratford coming together to honour Humboldt

Throughout Stratford and from coast to coast tributes to the sixteen people who died following the horrific bus crash in Saskatchewan involving the Humboldt Broncos hockey team continue.

The City of Stratford, local schools and other businesses are joining together Thursday to hold a jersey day where people will wear hockey jerseys or dress in green and gold, the Humboldt Broncos colors, to honor those who were killed and involved in the fatal collision last Friday between the teams bus and a semi truck.

Director of Education for the Avon District Maitland School Board Dr. Lisa Walsh says the country is coming together in the wake of the tragedy.

“While this is about the people in Saskatchewan right now impacted by this terrible tragedy since, it also is an opportunity for us to be compassionate, to show that we care about other people, to really support one another as well at this time.”

Flags on city buildings throughout Stratford are lowered until Monday to show support for Humboldt.
