Perth County OPP say drivers aren’t following laws around school buses

Children are being put at risk by the number of drivers refusing to stop for school buses with their lights flashing in Perth County.

Perth County OPP say they have already investigated eight cases where drivers didn’t stop for buses when they should have so far this year.

They say drivers should review the areas in the Highway Traffic Act that pertain to how deal with school buses and they note fines for breaking the rules total $490.00 and the loss of six demerit points.

Drivers are reminded that buses with strobe lights activated on top are actively picking up and dropping off students and will be making frequent stops.
