Perth County OPP is once again cautioning local residents that the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) scam and several other scams remain very active within our communities. Over the past month, Perth County OPP has investigated at least ten occurrences which have involved victims sending electronic transfers of Bitcoins and gift card authorization codes to scammers, providing personal and banking information, and allowing access to home computers. Scammers are criminals. They will utilize multiple methods to obtain information, including call spoofing-the mimicking of legitimate telephone numbers using automated technology. If you get one of these phone calls just hang up.
