A new scam is making the rounds in Stratford targetting the Royal Canadian Legion.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 8 President Dale Bast tells the My Stratford Now Newsroom that the legion got a phone call Friday morning from a member of the public.
The person said they had a received a phone call from someone who said they were looking for donations towards a memorial book about World War 1 that was being produced by the legion in Stratford.
Bast says no one at the legion has authorized any such book and this is a scam that’s targetting unsuspecting victims.
He says they told Stratford Police about it and the force has started an investigation into the scam.
Bast adds that the legion is busy preparing for Remembrance Day events and that this is the last thing they need right now.
