Perth County OPP reminding you not to “veer for deer”

Don’t veer for deer.

That warning from Perth County OPP who are reminding drivers to be alert and aware of their surroundings.

The reminder comes after police say they have investigated vehicle collisions involving deer in the area lately and they say deer-vehicle collisions increase significantly 1.5 hours on either side of sunset and sunrise.

They say that if a deer enters your path suddenly, you should remain calm and in control, reduce your speed and steer straight instead of changing your direction quickly which increases your risk of losing control, leaving the road and even rolling your vehicle.

This time of the years brings a greater chance of encountering a deer while you are out and about.
