Ontario government giving healthcare in the Stratford area a shot in the arm financially

Healthcare in our area is getting a shot in the arm financially.

Ontario has announced that it is providing $363-thousand in funding to the Stratford General Hospital for six surge beds which the government says will help alleviate some of the extra pressure hospitals face during the cold and flu season.

Ontario Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, Christine Elliott, also announced on Monday that the government will move forward with a number of hospices across the province, including the Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice.

Nearly $33.6 million is being invested by the province to build 193 new hospice beds across Ontario and when they open, the government will provide $20.3-million each year in operational funding for nursing, personal support, and other services.
