BREAKING: Two Stratford businesses sent hoax bomb threat emails; Police say emails are identical

Stratford Police have confirmed that at least two businesses in Stratford received emailed bomb threats Thursday.

As well, the Perth East Recreation Complex in Milverton reopened Thursday afternoon after officials say it was closed earlier because of a bomb threat.

Perth East Chief Administrative Officer Glenn Schwendinger tells the My Stratford Now.com Newsroom the threat was sent by email to the complex (Thursday afternoon.

He says the O.P.P. was called and the building was evacuated while police searched the complex.

He adds that no bomb was found and that the building was deemed fully safe and reopened.

In Stratford, Lloyd’s Electric received a similar threat as did St. Marys Ford Sales.  Both were visited by police and are still open with business as usual.

The Stratford Police confirmed to the My Stratford Now.com Newsroom the emails that have been sent locally and throughout North America are identical with all the same information.

Police declined to say what amount of money was being asked for but our sister station on Vancouver Island received a copy of the email and $20,000 in bitcoin was demanded.

The threats are all believed to be hoaxes.
