A new home has been left in ruins and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office has been notified after a fire in Mitchell.
Reports say the fire happened around 7 p.m. Sunday at a home under construction on Perth Road 170, south of Highway 8.
Fire Chief Bill Hunter says because the damage caused exceeds $500-thousand the Ontario Fire Marshall was notified.
No one was hurt in the blaze.
West Perth Firefighters were on scene first and crews from stations in Seaforth, Monkton and Sebringville were called in to help bring the fire under control and they were on scene until around 3 a.m.
Firefighters returned to the scene Monday morning to check for hot spots.
It’s not believed that the fire was suspicious and anyone who knows anything about what happened is asked to call the Fire Chief’s office.
