Hackers target church

Stratford Police is investigating an email hack and fraud at St. Joseph’s Church.

Police say that Reverend Richard Bester’s email had been compromised and emails were being sent asking people to buy Google Play gift cards which would then be donated to cancer patients.

The emails were sent by a spoof address.

If you received one of these emails but did not buy a gift card you can go report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

Reports can be made online here or by phone at 1-888-495-8501.

If you did purchase a gift card please report it directly to the Stratford Police at 519-271-4141.
