Charges wont be laid in collision that left Elmira woman dead

There will be no charges laid after an Elmira woman was killed in a collision near Saskatoon.

Back on July 9th last year, Hank and Bettina Schuurmans were taking part in a cross-country tractor tour to promote Ontario dairy farmers when police say they were rear-ended by a semi-tractor trailer.

Bettina died in the collision and Hank was taken to hospital with critical injuries and was later released.

The RCMP finished the investigation into the collision yesterday (Thursday), ruling that “there is no reasonable likelihood the evidence would establish the semi driver was operating his vehicle in a criminal fashion or in violation of provincial law.”

What caused the crash has not been released.
