Police continue to crack down on distracted driving in area

A number of drivers face distracted driving charges in our area.

Ontario Provincial Police in the west region says they were highly visible over the March Break during their Distracted Driving Campaign which ran from March 11th to March 17th.

They say officers laid 144 Distracted Driving charges and 4 Distracted Driving-related Careless Driving Charges in the area during the campaign.

During the province-wide initiative, OPP laid 1,508 distracted driving charges with an additional 51 distraction-related careless driving charges laid against drivers who police say were caught dividing their attention between driving and some other activity which made roads unsafe.

So far this year, OPP have laid over 2 thousand distracted driving charges.
