Police: Stratford woman charged with impaired driving had child in the vehicle

A 34-year-old Stratford woman faces an impaired driving charge after police say she was stopped with her two-year-old son in the vehicle.
Stratford Police say they received information around 9 o’clock Sunday night from Ontario Provincial Police about a possible impaired driver who was heading toward Stratford from the Shakespeare area.
Police say the vehicle was located and stopped as it was coming into Stratford and the female driver was observed showing signs of impairment and she was arrested.
The woman was brought to the Sebringville OPP detachment where police say she provided samples of her breath that showed that she had more than two times the legal limit of alcohol in her blood.
She was charged with impaired and has a court date scheduled for May 6th.
The child was taken into care by police and was later turned over to a responsible family member.
Police say the Children’s Aid Society was also contacted to follow up with the mother.
