Over $10 million in funding announced for improving housing in the Stratford area

“Ontario families shouldn’t have to live in buildings with crumbling walls, leaking roofs, and broken elevators.”
That’s what Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece says is behind the Ontario government investing over $10 million to improve community housing locally.

The City of Stratford and the Perth County and Stratford Housing Corporation will receive over $3 million for the 2019-20 year with Wellington County receiving over $6 million which spans the ridings of Perth-Wellington and Wellington-Halton Hills.

The funding is part of an investment of $1 billion in the 2019-20 year province-wide to help sustain, repair and grow community housing and help end homelessness.

Last week, Steve Clark, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, also announced the province’s new Community Housing Renewal Strategy.

The plan aims to transform a fragmented and inefficient system into one that is more streamlined, sustainable and ready to help people who need it most.
