Case of fatal hit and run in Stratford parking lot to resume next month

It will be next month before the case of a fatal hit and run that happened in the parking lot of a Stratford store resumes.

The Stratford Beacon Herald reports that the accused 30-year-old Stratford woman and her lawyer from Toronto were not in court Monday when a local lawyer, appearing as an agent on behalf of the lawyer for the accused, asked for a judicial pretrial to be scheduled for July 25th.

The request was approved by the judge and the case was adjourned until August 12th.

The accused woman has been charged with accident resulting in death in the incident on Mother’s Day that police say saw a 63-year-old woman struck by a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot.

Evelyn Sophia Harris later died in hospital and the accused woman, who police say left the scene of the collision, later turned herself into Stratford Police.
