Narrowly avoided collision between transport truck and police cruiser leads to charge

A 34-year-old Teeswater man is scheduled to appear in court after police say he almost collided head-on with a police cruiser.
Around 12:45 Friday afternoon, police say an officer in a Perth County police cruiser was driving westbound on Perth Line 86, east of Listowel, when they had to take evasive action to avoid colliding head-on with an eastbound transport truck that had veered into the westbound lane.
Police say the officer observed that traffic behind the cruiser was swerving onto the westbound shoulder to avoid the truck.
The driver was stopped and charged with careless driving.
An investigation into what happened continues.
