Stratford Police are reminding people in the city that it’s against the law to publicly identify a young person involved in a criminal investigation.
It comes after they say a 14-year-old female reported that she had been assaulted around 3 o’clock last Tuesday afternoon by a 15-year-old female who she knew.
Police say the victim suffered minor injuries in the assault and the accused was arrested and then later released with a court appearance scheduled for November 14th in Stratford and orders that she stay away from the victim.
While investigating, police say they were told about a video of the incident that had been posted online with numerous derogatory comments posted about the 15-year-old suspect and her family.
According to police, some of the comments specifically named people involved in the incident.Â
The SPS says it’s against the law to publicly identify a young person involved in a criminal offence.
Those who made the posts are being asked to remove them.
