Public school students in Perth County get to sleep in today.
Late last week, the Ontario Secondary School Teacher’s Federation announced that its members would stage a one-day strike today if they didn’t reach a deal with the province.
Avon Maitland District School board elementary and high schools are closed today.
The elementary schools are closed because some education workers belong to the OSSTF and the board is worried there would not be enough supervision for the safety of the students.
Catholic schools will be open and students will go to class as usual.
Teachers will return to work tomorrow at all schools.
