GI outbreak declared over at Seaforth Community Hospital

The gastrointestinal outbreak was discovered on the Inpatient Unit of the hospital on January, 9th.

The virus was determined to be Norovirus or more commonly known as the stomach flu.  It is highly contagious.

Larry Morrell, the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance Infection Control Practitioner, says, “Being able to declare the outbreak over is a testament to our team’s dedication and commitment to ensuring a safe environment and I thank all for their efforts.”

Visitors to hospitals are reminded to wash your hands when visiting family or friends and do not visit if you are feeling unwell.   “Handwashing really is key to stopping the spread of illnesses,” adds Morrell.
