Stratford Police searching for suspect in St. Marys

Stratford Police service is searching for a suspect in a number of incidents this weekend in St. Marys.

Police say the suspect went to a home on Friday, May 15th just after 8:00 a.m. on Wellington Street South, in the Town of St Marys.  Police say he threw rocks at the house, breaking a window and a portion of the siding. Police attended and conducted a search, but were unable to find the suspect.

Then on Saturday, May 16, at 10:00 p.m. the same suspect was seen at another home on Huron Street South, in the Town of St Marys. Police say the suspect was at the home in violation of the conditions of a release.  Police went to the scene but couldn’t find him.

On Sunday, May 17, shortly after 7:30 a.m., the suspect returned to the same scene on Huron Street South, in the Town of St. Marys where he allegedly broke a window and assaulted one of the residents.

There were no injuries.

As a result, police are looking for 36- year-old Matthew Weesies of St. Marys.

He faces charges of Mischief Under $5000, Trespass by Night, Breach of Undertaking, Assault, Mischief Under $5000, and two counts of Breach of Undertaking.

The Stratford Police is asking for anyone with information about Weesies or where he is to call them at 519-271-4141, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800- 222-TIPS.
